Calculation transparency
A clear, reproducible methodology grounded in official data
Econparity converts historical price series and future estimates into an understandable view of purchasing power. The goal is to consistently show how the general price level changes, what return is required to preserve the real value of capital, and to facilitate the projection of future economic scenarios.
Official series by currency
Each currency is linked to the broad consumer price index published by its reference statistical authority. We use annual values to keep periods comparable and reduce the effect of monthly or seasonal fluctuations.
Purchasing-power calculation
We compare the index in the starting year with the index in the ending year. That ratio represents accumulated inflation and estimates the ending nominal amount required to purchase approximately the same basket as at the start.
History, investment, and scenarios
Years with published observations are presented as historical data. Years beyond the latest available observation are identified as estimates. In advanced mode, compound growth and inflation-indexed contributions are calculated separately and compared with inflation.
